see-through house

Situated on a bold oceanfront lot at the tip of Lunenburg's Second Peninsula , the See-Through House is a family home with a distinctive division of public and private spaces. With family living centered in a great room with expansive ocean views and 19-foot ceilings, the home is nevertheless designed for energy efficiency and off-grid living. The unique approach to heating systems blends passive solar with in-floor radiant on the main floor and slim, European styled radiators upstairs. On the private side, the four generously sized bedrooms - with extensive closet space and baths - on each level all look out on wonderful ocean views. An extensive exterior living area, complete with spa and outdoor fireplace, invites occupants outside to enjoy the stellar views. Engineered lumber is used to frame the home's high, open volumes and to create a cantilevered study, with a serpentine glass railing overlooking the great room and kitchen below.
