LEED certification

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) promotes a holistic approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health, which include sustainable site development , water efficiency, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. LEED is North America's most popular building certification, which covers a broad range of environmental and occupant health issues. We are proud to have designed the Bullard House, the first LEED for Homes Platinum level home in Atlantic Canada. Solterre’s Concept House will be the second Platinum project from the firm.

LEED Credits and Prerequisites are organized into these five categories. LEED Certification is based on the total point score achieved in these five areas, following an independent review. With four possible levels of certification (certified, silver, gold and platinum), LEED is flexible enough to accommodate a wide range of green building strategies that best fit the constraints and goals of particular projects.

Keith Robertson is at the helm of Solterre Design’s team of LEED Consultants. As Nova Scotia’s first LEED accredited architect, his expertise and passion for green initiatives have resulted in 13 LEED certified projects in Atlantic Canada to date and more than 60 LEED registered projects throughout Canada.

Solterre Design’s sustainable consulting experience includes a full range and size of building types including: single-family residential, recreational, healthcare, educational, military, multi-residential, office, industrial, transportation and laboratory.
