Solterre Design

Situated on a bold oceanfront lot at the tip of Lunenburg's Second Peninsula , the Hoyle Residence is a family home with a distinctive division of public and private spaces.

With family living centered in a great room with expansive ocean views and 19' ceilings, the home is nevertheless designed for energy efficiency and off-grid living. The unique approach to heating systems blends passive solar with in-floor radiant on the main floor and slim, European styled radiators upstairs.

On the private side, four generous sized bedrooms with extensive closet space and baths on each level all look out on wonderful ocean views. An extensive exterior living area, complete with spa and outdoor fireplace, invites occupants outside on fair weather days.

Engineered lumber is used to frame the home's high, open volumes and to create a cantilevered study, with a serpentine glass railing overlooking the great room and kitchen below.
