Solterre Design

The Doyle House was a unique design challenge. Clients arrived with a plan which showed four walls with a fixed entry point and fixed window locations on one wall. The two-storey building, once a plumbing fixtures supply warehouse, had recently been converted to a mixed-use commercial and residential development.

Prioritizing functions, mainly which ones should have direct access to daylight, became the driver for this design. Eliminating passageways, inside connecting rooms directly made this layout space efficient. Some dual-purpose spaces were also planned for - including a family room for office and guests when required.

Formal trim and detailing has the effect of a Georgian home in a quaint neighbourhood, yet this condo offers all the perks of life in the downtown core.
