A craftsman and traditional timber framer built the Chelsea House which is nestled in the woods in Quebec. His attention to detail and experience with all methods of wood construction merged traditional timber frame techniques with current R2000 levels of insulation.
The living room of the Chelsea House is where the family gathers and takes in the views - even from the loft which is accessed from a stair wrapping around the wood fireplace. The double-height space, framed in with true mortise and tenon joinery, along with the wood floors and the natural daylight create a fantastic, warm retreat. The kitchen's island creates a functional centerpiece for the owner's young children who also enjoy easy access to the outdoors on the dining deck.
