The Allan House, a typical Halifax century home, had been previously chopped into a series of small rooms to respond to the immediate needs of its aging occupants. During renovation, the charm and elegance of the original plan were revived, providing living and dining rooms of gracious proportions and updating and expanding on the classic family kitchen. An inviting south facing deck off the kitchen and the addition of a main floor powder room make main floor living comfortable and easy.
Upstairs, the layout provides for two well-proportioned bedrooms with full closets along with two home offices, all of which offer good natural light. A deck off the garden office allows for private outdoor living on this level. A four-piece bath completes the complement of rooms on this floor.
While the original footprint remains unaltered, the addition of a typical Halifax storm porch adds an authentic formal entrance at street level.
