Solterre Design

Green design has many cross- disciplinary aspects that are best approached as an integrated design team. The decisions that are made early in the project usually have the greatest benefit and are easier to incorporate into the project. Establishing the green priorities and goals of the client and the project team is the first step. From there, green strategies can be implemented that fit the defined goals. We can assist by facilitating an Integrated Design Process starting early in the design stages. Solterre Design's experience as a Sustainable Design consultant includes:

  • Facilitating integrated design sessions;
  • Comparative material selection criteria and green materials database;
  • Incorporation and review of LEED applicable issues;
  • Construction waste management and occupant waste strategies;
  • Green review all phases of schematic design, design development, construction drawings and construction administration with respect to environmental principles, and;
  • Specification review and writing.

Solterre's green design philosophy is to work with the client to develop economically feasible strategies for maximizing energy efficiency and sustainable design solutions. Experience has shown that green design, and highly energy efficient buildings can be built for little or no additional capital cost when the decisions are made early in the process by an integrated design team.
