Located in a dense South End Halifax neighbourhood, this backyard/poolside renovation required social spaces open to the pool while providing privacy from neighbouring homes and apartment buildings. A number of beautiful existing trees presenting intriguing constraints, were embraced by the design team requiring careful placement of a series of timber frame canopies and enclosures. Pool-side lounging and entertaining areas are located to take advantage of the sun throughout the day. Solterre worked closely with the carpenter to detail the curved decking, timber connections, screens and canopies to elegantly define sitting and changing areas.
